1. Green List Expansion: Seventeen new roles are set to be added to the Green List in March 2024.

  • ICT Database and System Administrator
  • Aircraft Maintenance Engineer
  • Road Roller Operator
  • Paving Plant Operator
  • Corrections Officer
  • Metal Fabricator
  • Pressure Welder
  • Welder
  • Fitter (General)
  • Fitter and Turner
  • Fitter-Welder
  • Metal Machinist (First Class)
  • Panel Beater
  • Vehicle Painter.

Detailed requirements and residence pathways for each role will be provided closer to the implementation date.

Occupations

2. Work to Residence Pathways Open: Starting from 29 September 2023, the Green List and Sector Agreement Work to Residence pathways will be open for applications for existing occupations on these lists. Migrants with at least two years of eligible work experience in a Green List or Sector Agreement role can apply for residence if they meet age, health, character, and English language requirements.

3. RSE Scheme Cap Increase: The cap for the Recognised Seasonal Employer (RSE) scheme is being raised to 19,500 for the 2023/2024 season, an increase of 500 from the previous year.

4. Closure of Recovery Visa, but with new Extension Option: The Recovery Visa will no longer accept new applications as of September 23, 2023. However, existing visa holders in New Zealand can apply for a three-month extension to allow for a transition to longer-term work visas if necessary.

5. New Roles in Construction and Infrastructure: Additional roles will be added to the Construction and Infrastructure Sector Agreement early next year. These roles include:

  • Driller’s Assistant (821912)
  • Earthmoving Labourer (821113)
  • Earthmoving Plant Operator (General) (721211)
  • Linemarker (721912)
  • Machine Operators n.e.c (711999)
  • Mechanic’s Assistant (899916)
  • Road Traffic Controller (899923).
